SIMRAN KAUR

Simran Kaur, B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., MBA (Cand.), is a cross-trained legal and business professional serving as a Law Clerk at Liberty & Freedom Legal Group. With a background in both Indian and U.S. legal systems, she brings experience in civil rights litigation, education law, regulatory compliance, and real estate. She holds an LL.M. in U.S. Legal Studies from DePaul University – College of Law and is currently pursuing her MBA in Information Technology. At the firm, she supports legal research, litigation strategy, and policy advocacy focused on parental rights, school choice, and election law.

Simran’s deep commitment to public service is reflected in her extensive pro bono work. She has contributed to DePaul’s Housing Preservation Project and the Schiller Family Law Center, drafting estate planning documents and supporting underserved families in guardianship and property disputes. Through PILI and King & Spalding, she provided legal responses on Illinois Free Legal Answers, addressing issues like tenant rights, domestic violence, and education access. She has also volunteered with L’Arche Chicago, promoting dignity and inclusion for adults with intellectual disabilities.

She was awarded second place in a Client Counseling Competition and has participated in moot court competitions, demonstrating her skills in client advocacy and oral argument. Known for her empathetic communication, strategic thinking, and dedication to justice, Simran is passionate about leveraging legal tools to advance equity, access, and opportunity in communities across jurisdictions.
